Mr. Marcus J Ranum told me on his DeviantArt that the next time Susan and he were getting together, they’re “just doing wet plates.” Like it’s no big deal. But these are special.
Wet plate photography was invented over 150 years ago. Basically you had to cut a piece of glass, prepare the surface with chemicals, expose it within the camera, and fix it, all before the surface gets dry. Tediousness within a very short time span. Why do it today when we have digital cameras?
Because look at them. These shots are amazing. I hope we see more. This type of photography fits Susan’s style perfectly. In my opinion anyway. Which isn’t worth much.
Fun fact: Wet plates are sensitive only to blue light. Anything without blue (like her red hair) looks black. That background could be hot pink for all we know. Sweet!
Very awesome artistry by Marcus J Ranum. I smell an interview opportunity.
Don’t forget to follow SusanCoffey.net on Twitter.

She sure does smile. She just keeps it to a minimum because of the onslaught of devastating radiance. Kinda like how god only let Moses see his back.
She’s smiling because we now have a Twitter. Follow by clicking on the link on the banner up there ^
